Our Services

Meaning, in every session, we will do what is best for you and your care, including cupping, acupressure, electrical stimulation, trigger point needling, and classical acupuncture. Clients may choose to purchase herbal remedies and/or supplements, but in terms of services, there are no add-ons. We do what you need when you need it.

COVID-19 Safety
Brain Body Bold follows the guidelines of Austin Public Health and conducts screenings for COVID-19. The HVAC units of the facility utilize MERV-15 filters and continuously pull outside air into the facility. The inside air is never recirculated, and each suite has a dedicated HVAC unit, so air is not shared between suites. UV sterilization is used for all reused equipment, such as cups.
Acupuncture and Herbal Safety
Acupuncture, when practiced correctly is quite safe. The main thing is to find a qualified practitioner. Licensed acupuncturists will typically have over a thousand hours of clinical practice by the time they graduate. Moreover, in the state of Texas, acupuncturists are required to take board exams in foundations of Chinese medicine, acupuncture, biomedicine, and herbalism. Acupuncture needles are closer to an human hair than a hypodermic needle in a hospital. They are very thin, sterile, and regulated by the FDA. Herbs and supplements, in contrast, are not regulated by the FDA. However, there are regulations for herbs and supplements, and it's important to work with your provider.
Does it hurt?
Some acupuncture points can be sensitive, but as a whole, acupuncture is not painful. You may feel a pinch at those more sensitive points, but otherwise, the most you may feel is a mild, dull ache or tingling. The most common sensation is feeling very relaxed to the point of needing to reorient yourself to the world a bit. Sometimes, people prefer to add time to their session for a nap.
How fast will it work?
My first treatment that drew me to study Chinese medicine had immediate and lasting effects, but that was just a bit of knee pain. For something like stroke rehabilitation, that requires more treatments and consistent work with the affected side. All that to say, it varies by the condition. We'll work on a care plan that works for you.
