Online Seminars
Welcome to office hours with Dr. Stanley, starting with Embodied Resilience! This seminar guides you through the five elements and invites you to do various exercises that help get you into balance. What's next on the horizon?

No pain, no... Nope, just no pain.
Muscle Building and Recovery
In this seminar, we're going to talk about optimizing muscle health. We'll discuss how to stage your approach to support your connective tissue so that your body has what it needs and an opportunity to respond to stressors. We'll also walk through key strategies for acupressure to help with any soreness and tightness.

Foster Longevity and Support Your Brain
Brain Health 101
This is a broad spectrum course to allow you to learn about neurotransmitters, the gut-brain axis, and basic structures of the brain. We'll look at key foods (like walnuts) to support brain health. As well, we'll walk through techniques for managing stress, anxiety and depression.

Energy in equals... Period. Give me energy.
Lets get cooking!
Food can be fuel that provides all the nutrients your body needs. It can provide antioxidants and flavonoids that enhance cardiovascular health and limit oxidative stress. Food can help you boost memory and enhance neural connections. AND food can be a source of joy. It can soothe the nerves and make you smile. So what do you say? Let's get cooking!
Interested in Studying Functional Medicine?
I'm asked this question a lot! I felt it merited a special section.

Functional Medicine University
I chose FMU back when, because it was the only fully online program and it worked well while I was attending graduate school. It's affordable, family owned and run, has a cohesive interface, and it offers video and audio download. The cost is $4895, but there's a student and non-physician discount. As a 200 hour program, it's a great option for your first foray into functional medicine or for someone who does deep dives into academic journals driving this approach and has additional training to contextualize nuance. They also offer free seminars to students and alumni. FMU is a great and practical option. However, it does not have the same depth as IFM. (I do have an affiliation with FMU.) If you'd like to connect with FMU, let me know!

Institute for Functional Medicine
IFM advertises itself as the gold standard for functional medicine, and it truly is. It offers the detail and nuance designed for a clinician. They used to require a great deal in person, but now, they offer their training fully online. The cost of certification is between $15-17k depending on the route you choose. Technically, this program lists a 100 hour requirement. Do not confuse this with hours of content. This is more like 100 credits and a "30 hour" course will have more like 120 hours of content. This program is robust. It has value for any clinician who wishes to learn about the functional medicine approach. However, interested parties should know licensed healthcare providers must hold a doctoral level degree to pursue certification. (I do not have an affiliation with IFM.)
